Your Web Design Process

  • Think about it as a first date … we both want to impress each other.

But on a more serious note, this initial talk should set the stage for our collaboration.

    We will go through:

    • what are your expectations once the new website goes live

    • design directions

    • framework

    • interactions

    • automations

  • Of course we want every client to have a bespoke web design following their brand identity, and to achieve that we will draw a strategic plan based on the info provided in the design brief.

We start from with two major components: the mood-board and the site-map.

The former sets the tone, the interactions, details, things we like about other websites, things we could do better than the competition.

The latter is the framework / the maze that we will build on.

You’ll always have access to these two while we go from one process to the other.

  • While we’re designing your brand new online home, you will be tasked with gathering images, writing (or outsourcing) copy for all the sections, blog posts or products on the site.

We use Milanote (it’s free) to organize everything and we’ll guide you through every step of the way.

  • Once the design part is done and all the content has been gathered up it’s time for our developers to do what they do best.

Following exactly the structure you’ve approved in the design stage we’ll bring your brand to life.

This front-end + back-end development can take as little as 4 weeks and as long as six months depending on how complex you want this new online home to be.

  • Following the development stage we soft-launch the website for about two to four weeks.

This is the time you ask your close friends to check it out. Experience tells us they will tear it apart, nitpicking and thinking they can do better. We embrace that love because it comes in the form of “free” quality control.

Once everything has been thoroughly tested on various desktop displays and mobile devices your website gets the green light to be shown on social media and the whole world.

  • Congratulations, you have a brand spanking new online home!

Now go post about it on social media and start thinking about ways to scale this new revenue stream.

*Journeys require a Standard Mailchimp Account (~20$/month)

These campaigns can be triggered by a variety of actions, such as signing up for a newsletter, making a purchase, or visiting a specific webpage.

Journeys can also be used to send drip campaigns, which are a series of automated emails sent to a customer over a period of time. This feature allows businesses to nurture leads and build relationships with their customers by providing relevant and timely information.

Good To Know

  • We chose Squarespace as it proves time and time again to be the hassle-free choice in terms of content-management-systems. It’s the easiest for our clients to build upon and manage on their own. The wireframe is quick to understand and it comes with a lot of pre-built functions (e-commerce, paywall member area, scheduling and appointments and a tone of extra features.

Squarespace works on a subscription model and we recommend the Business Package as it comes with basic e-commerce functionality . Here’s the pricing table.

  • We found that two rounds of edits is the sweet-spot for most websites before the official launch. Usually it takes 3-4 months to get enough traffic data to better understand visitor behavior on your site. We’re already starting with an efficient funnel design, it’s just a matter of fine-tuning it after the 4-6 month mark.

If new information emerges between the wireframe milestone and the launch date, we can accommodate a 3rd round of edits billed hourly. (Advanced Website package has more revisions included)

  • You’ve probably managed a blog or some form of online account before, but just to make sure you understand the full potential of this platform, based on the package you chose there will be a video tutorial and / or a two-hour training session diving into all the tabs and features available to you.

  • Even though we’re a creative agency we’re expecting all the content to come from you (images and copy). We might process it to better fit the website, but ultimately you’re the master of your domain.

There are exceptions to this rule: It’s self-explanatory that if you’ve gone through our branding process we have most of the data set to go on the website.
